Discerning True Faith
Doubtless Faith – Part II
Scripture Reading: Matthew 21:18-22
Key Verse: Matthew 21:22
“If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”
I’m sure you want to live an abundant life — we all do!
However, Jesus never described the abundant life as one without trouble. In fact, He said that we would face trouble in this world. The abundant life is lived in the midst of, and despite, this world’s challenges. Yet, to experience it, we must have faith and push aside doubt. That is no easy task!
One way to reduce doubt is to remind ourselves daily that nothing is impossible for God. It may seem too simple, but doubt comes from questioning God’s ability. Our flesh naturally questions God unless we intentionally work to build our faith!
Another way to lessen doubt is to remember God’s miracles. In today’s Scripture Reading, in the story of Jesus cursing the fig tree, Jesus says, “If you have faith and don’t doubt, you can do things like this and much more.”
Write down some of the “God moments” from your past to remind yourself of God’s faithfulness.
Finally, practice faith by speaking the words of faith even before you’re fully convinced. Like anything else we struggle with, faith thinking requires practice.
Whenever you have a doubt-filled thought, immediately replace it with a faith-filled one.
Father, I want to trust instead of doubt today. Please help me! In Jesus’s name, amen.
