Fear of the Final
The Book of Life
Scripture Reading: Revelation 21:15-27
Key Verse: Revelation 21:27
Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.
This past week we have studied reasons that we need not fear our death, if we are believers. Let’s wrap it up today by looking at a revelation God gave to the Apostle John. God gives us a view of heaven, as much as human words could possibly express such heavenly perspectives.
I encourage you to read the suggested reading for today. As you read John’s revelation, try to imagine what it is going to be like to live forever in such luxury. Think about the fact that pain, sorrow, stress, and all other negatives of life will be gone. Everything we will experience will be positive—gloriously positive! The Bible declares that, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love Him” (1 Corinthians 2:9). Do you love Jesus? Do you do your best to obey His teaching: If so, you need not fear death.
The more we learn about God and His kingdom; the closer we get to Jesus, we can say with the Apostle Paul: “We want to put on our new bodies…we long to put them on!” (2 Corinthians 5:2-4). The old time preachers used to talk about “dying grace.” Trust that God will give you His peace and grace when you come to that moment of crossing over to your eternal reward!
Father, I will live in peace and thank you for qualifying me for the inheritance of the kingdom of light. In Jesus’s name, amen.
