What Do We Know About Satan? – Part VI
Scripture Reading: Ephesians 6:10-18
Key Verse: Ephesians 6:11
Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.
From yesterday’s devotional, the Bible makes it clear that the devil has plans to attack us and shipwreck our faith. Knowing this, we need a plan of defense to follow each day.
I gave you some of my plan yesterday: morning Bible study and daily prayer.
I use the Lord’s Prayer as my guide since Jesus gave it as a model prayer for His followers. Here is how I use each part of the prayer.
After “Our Father in Heaven,” I stop and take a moment to thank Him for all my many blessings.
After “Hallowed is your Name,” I stop and recognize that He deserves reverence and respect. I offer my body as a living sacrifice to Him, which is my spiritual act of worship (Romans 12:2).
After “May your Kingdom Come,” I stop and pray that God hastens the day of Jesus’s return to earth, which would end our struggles and temptations in this present life.
After “May your will be done on earth as it is in heaven,” I take a few moments to pray for the nations of our world and the leaders of those nations, as the Bible tells us to (1 Timothy 2:1-4). I also ask God to help me to do His will in my life.
After “Give me this day my daily bread,” I ask God for all my needs, praying for my family and the list of unbelievers God has put on my heart.
After “Forgive me of my sins, as I forgive those who sin against me,” I pray for the Holy Spirit’s help to remember to forgive anyone who offends me throughout that day.
After “Guide me away from temptation and deliver me from the Evil One,” I ask God to give me and my family a break from the devil’s temptation and attacks.
There are other ways to use Jesus’s model prayer, but this works for me. Try it and see if it works for you.
Father, protect me from the evil one’s attacks. In Jesus’s Name, amen.
