Our highest goal must be to hear God’s opinion and follow His instructions

Fear
Fear of People – Part 4

Scripture Reading: Galatians 2:11-14

Key Verse: Galatians 2:12

When he first arrived, he ate with the Gentile believers, who were not circumcised. But afterward, when some friends of James came, Peter wouldn’t eat with the Gentiles anymore. He was afraid of criticism from these people who insisted on the necessity of circumcision.

I love the promise found in Matthew 6:33, “Seek the kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need.” Take note of how this verse speaks about priorities: Seek God and His kingdom above all else. In other words, there are other things that we will do and other opinions that we consider. This promise reminds us about putting all things in our lives in a priority list; first things first.

I care about the people around me. I am influenced by their opinions. However, it is always my desire to make sure my highest goal is to hear God’s opinion and follow His instructions. I want to do that even if my choice is not popular with the others around me. I admit this is not easy for me. I ask God daily for courage to make tough decisions that I know will be unpopular with some people. I’m glad God forgives my failures and increases my victories in this area.

If, like me, you struggle to keep God’s opinion in the top position, join me in daily making it a point in your prayers. The Bible encourages us to pray about everything, with thanksgiving and the peace of God will guard our minds and hearts in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:4-7).

Father, I will rest in your protection and peace as I live out my life today. I will seek your approval first. In Jesus’ name, amen.
