Warning Given

These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the fulfillment of the ages has come.

In the Old Testament we will read many stories and then wonder if they apply to our lives. But in our scripture for today, the apostle Paul makes it very clear that the time God allowed 23,000 of His people to die because they had committed sexual sin is a warning to us! Yes, it applies to our lives today. God has not changed His mind on sexual immorality. It is true that we don’t drop dead immediately, but there are consequences! This passage lets us see the mind of God when it comes to sexual sins. Let it serve as a warning!

Is this warning coming out of God’s anger? No, this warning is like a railroad crossing warning; it’s there to protect us! Sexual immorality carries horrible consequences that God wants His children to avoid. Disease, broken homes, and damaged emotions are just a few examples of the train wreck awaiting those who continue in sexual immorality!

Heed the warning. Trust your Heavenly Father. God’s love for us knows no limits and He has stopped at nothing to redeem us from a sin-filled world! As with the prodigal son, our Father waits for us to run back to Him. If you have fallen into any level of sexual sin, turn and run to your Heavenly Father. Forgiveness and healing are waiting for you! Your sin has not permanently separated you from God, unless you allow it to! Trust His love, turn from your sin, run to Him!

Father, I receive you and your forgiveness for my sins. I will give my best to be an over comer, believing you’ll do the rest. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
