Big Rocks for Strong Christ-Followers
Today’s Big Rock: The Value of One! Part I
Scripture Foundation: Luke 15:7
“In the same way, there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven’t strayed away!”
The last Big Rock I want to deal with in this month’s devotional is the value that God sees in an individual person.
It does not take a large group of people to get God’s attention. He has His eye on every living being. Jesus undoubtedly stunned His listeners when He said:
“Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.” (Matthew 10:29-30)
What Jesus is saying boggles the mind! God notices not only me, but every single person and every single living creature.
I do not believe that Jesus exaggerates. He is telling us how much God cares for every individual being of His creation.
He especially has His eye on human beings because He breathed into us eternal life. In other words, we humans will NEVER truly die. We will always continue to exist somewhere!
If you ever doubt your value, remember how valuable something is that is rare and never wears away. We put such high value on gold versus other metals because of its rarity and its resistance to tarnish.
Our spirit living within us is rare in that we are the only creation of God to receive His breath of eternal life. And our eternal spirit will not wear away.
God only can truly appreciate the full meaning of eternal life. Our finite minds cannot grasp a world without time or a world that lasts forever. This is the reason for the high value He puts on every single person that has ever lived!
God knows that if we lose out on having eternal life with Him, we will be forever separated from Him.
I do not want to imagine an existence without ANY sign of godliness or any sign of righteousness or goodness!
It is awful to think of anyone losing eternal happiness with God. Thus, God knows better than anyone how valuable you are. Do not lose sight of the “Value of One!”
Father, I praise you for placing such value on me! I will abide in Jesus and spend eternity with you! Amen.
