God’s Provisions:
Ask, Seek, and Knock – Part 2

Scripture Reading:  Matthew 7:8-12

Key Verse:  Matthew 7:7

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.

As we continue our thoughts from yesterday, we have a third word that Jesus used for us to approach God with our needs: Knock.  If we go to a house and knock, we are doing something that expresses expectation.  We believe a door will open.

Jesus tells us to expect the door to open; the door of heaven and its provisions.  Whether it is provisions for our initial salvation or provision for daily living, we knock if we believe provision is on the other side!  Jesus is giving us full permission to go to the door!  Don’t allow the enemy to rob you of provisions that have been promised to you.  James 4:2 reminds us that often we have not because we ask not!  I have had individuals say to me, I never pray for myself.  A person recently asked if it is ok to pray for their self.  The devil has convinced too many of God’s children that knocking at the door for provisions is a selfish act.

Jesus, God’s Son, came to earth to clear up confusion about the principles of the kingdom of God.  He has made it clear, knock at heaven’s door!  Show an earnestness and perseverance in your knocking.  Believe, not in your worthiness, but in the gracious willingness of your Father in heaven.  God wants to give generously; He awaits our knock!

Father, I am confident in your generous heart and I will knock at your door when provisions are needed.  Thank you for inviting me!  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
