De-Clutter Your Schedule
Schedule Your Values – Part 1

Scripture Reading: Matthew 6:25-34

Key Verse: Matthew 6:33

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Most people use their calendars for making sure they get a lot done.  Our scripture for today suggests we ought to use our calendars for living our values.  If you are reading this, you probably have some good biblical values, or at least want them.  A calendar can help you make sure you truly live those values.  For example, you want to be a better parent, you can take out your personal calendar and schedule some consistent time with your children.  If you don’t put them in your calendar, there is a high probability that life will take over your schedule and squeeze time for the kids out of your life.

Jesus was pointing to this concept when He challenged all His followers to seek the kingdom of God first.  Many may include the values of the kingdom in their lives, but how many will make sure that kingdom values rule first?  Those who put kingdom values into their schedule are taking steps to ensure that God is first in their lives.  These believers don’t vote on whether to attend church on Sunday morning.  It’s already in their schedule.  They mark it down and stick to their schedule just like worldly people do scheduling their values.  Get your calendar out and schedule your values!

Father, I want you and your ways to have first place in my life.  I will schedule these values and live by my schedule.  In Jesus’ name, amen.
