I Know I Received the Savior
Overjoyed!
Scripture Reading: Matthew 2:1-12
Key Verse: Matthew 2:10-11
When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold and of incense and of myrrh.
The reaction of the Magi, when they realized the star had led them to the Savior, was normal. They had studied the scriptures. They understood the significance of the star and its meaning. They had felt the intense bleakness of life without the Savior. These Magi had lived, like their fellow citizens, during a period when God had not spoken for many years. They realized that the appearance of the star and the birth of Jesus had broken the divine silence: God had spoken, and the Word became flesh! I believe our key verses are understated. “They were overjoyed” indeed!
What led you to the Savior? What “star” guided your journey to Jesus? Maybe it was a friend or a family member. Possibly a set of circumstances formed the “star” that led you to Jesus, your Savior! Maybe a pastor preached or a Sunday school teacher taught and a “star” was formed to lead you to Jesus! Today is a great day to review your journey to the Savior and the people who were involved.
Do you remember your reaction when you finally understood that Jesus was your personal Savior? Being “overjoyed” can come in forms of the deepest of deep peace or the uncontrolled tears of joy that a lost soul has been found.
Father, thanks for your grace that led me to my salvation in Jesus. Thanks for all the things and people involved that made it happen. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
