We are commissioned to help sinners become saints by putting their faith in Jesus

Cleaning the Fish – Tools Needed
Dwelling Richly – Part 2

Scripture Reading: Colossians 3:12-17

Key Verse: Colossians 3:16

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.

Our Key Verse for yesterday and today gives us the “why” of letting the Bible dwell in us richly: “as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom…” Jesus told us to be disciplers, to invite people far from God to take steps to God. We are commissioned to help sinners become saints by putting their faith in Jesus. Then we are to make sure they get baptized after they have repented of their sins (Acts 2:38). Finally, this discipleship process includes teaching new believers everything that Jesus taught while He walked on this earth (Matthew 28:20).

We can fulfill our commission; we can do what Jesus has asked us to do as we first allow God’s Word to dwell in us richly! We can teach, formally and informally, with all wisdom as we have let God’s Word dwell in us—personally—richly! When the Bible is entrenched into our lives; when it has saturated our minds, we can become great models of what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ! Our effectiveness in the work of God’s kingdom all depends on the Word of God dwelling richly in us!

Read small portions of the Bible each day. Write down meaningful verses that speak to you. Investigate verses that you don’t understand! As you faithfully put these practices in place in your life, God’s Word will soon dwell richly in you.

Father, I will read and apply your Word in my life. I will speak to others about your instructions, becoming a disciple maker. In Jesus’ name, amen.
