Safety Check
Anger – Part 1
Scripture Reading: Ephesians 4:20-27
Key Verse: Ephesians 4:26 NLT
And “don’t sin by letting anger control you.”Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry
The human emotion that violates safety issues the most is anger. Anger causes problems in actual road trips as well as our life road trip. When anger is uncontrolled it plays havoc with a family’s vacation as well as their daily home environment. Our road trip through this life journey will never feel safe if the anger emotion rules over all disagreements.
The scripture for today reminds us that the anger emotion is not sinful in and of itself. God created us with our emotions, which include anger. Anger is not an evil result of the fall of man in the Garden of Eden! No, anger is much needed in our lives when properly controlled and properly used. The Apostle Paul wrote: “Don’t sin by letting your anger control you” (vs. 26). Here is the key to safety issues in our homes: Who is in control? Our emotions need not be demonized but they must not be given the “keys” to our home either! God gives us His Holy Spirit to live in our lives once we turn to Him for salvation. The Holy Spirit must be given the “keys” to every area of our lives; He alone is worthy of such authority! When the Holy Spirit rules, emotions can exist without sinning—doing the damage that sin always does!
Are you sinning by allowing anger to control you? If so, surrender that to God and humble yourself to His control!
Father, I surrender all—all to you! I want to allow your Holy Spirit to live in me and rule over me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
