Grace and Peace – Part 4
Scripture Reading: Galatians 1:3-5
Key Verse: Galatians 1:3
May God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace.
I don’t know about you, but I find it really difficult to rest in God’s promises when I’m going through really difficult and stressful circumstances. I know I should relax and I know that God has never failed me in the past. All I know to do is ask God to forgive the weakness of my flesh and faith. I’ll share with you the cycle of my life—maybe it will encourage you. First, I stew far too long on the stressful issue. I imagine the worst case scenarios and start down the road to depression.
Secondly, the Holy Spirit finally gets my attention and reminds me there is a God in heaven strong enough and loving enough to step into my life circumstances. That thought alone will get me turned around on that dark road of sadness.
The third section of my cycle is when I start quoting scriptures. It’s here that I kick myself for not jumping to this third section sooner! The promises of the Bible begin to saturate my heart and mind; God’s peace breaks back into my soul!
The final section of my cycle is speaking boldly and firmly to the evil one in Jesus’ name; I tell him he is not going to steal my joy. He is a liar and I remind him of that—over and over! I speak God’s promises to the evil one; he can’t take that and he runs!
Father, thank you for your strength and power over the evil forces of this world. I will live in your victory today. In Jesus’ name, amen.
