Today: “The Heart of a Missionary”
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 9:19-23 NLT – Even though I am a free man with no master, I have become a slave to all people to bring many to Christ. When I was with the Jews, I lived like a Jew to bring the Jews to Christ. When I was with those who follow the Jewish law, I too lived under that law. Even though I am not subject to the law, I did this so I could bring to Christ those who are under the law. When I am with the Gentiles who do not follow the Jewish law, I too live apart from that law so I can bring them to Christ. But I do not ignore the law of God; I obey the law of Christ. When I am with those who are weak, I share their weakness, for I want to bring the weak to Christ. Yes, I try to find common ground with everyone, doing everything I can to save some.
I do everything to spread the Good News and share in its blessings.
Intro: Our physical heart certainly is an amazing __creation__ of our amazing God!
A. Today’s message is about the spiritual heart that God creates in the lives of missionaries.
B. Let’s do a heart examination today.
I. THE RIGHT ATRIUM OF A MISSIONARY’S HEART IS OUR FOCUS : “IT’S NOT ALL ABOUT ME.”
* Our hearts beat selfless love. I’ll give up fighting for my rights to gain influence.
II. THE LEFT ATRIUM OF A MISSIONARY’S HEART IS ABOUT MOTIVATION – HELL IS REAL!
* This part of our heart beats fast ; there is urgency to our message of hope!
III. THE RIGHT VENTRICLE OF A MISSIONARY’S HEART IS A FEARFUL RESPONSIBILITY .
A. The Apostle Paul wrote:
2 Corinthians 5:11 Since, then, we know what it is to fear the Lord, we try to persuade men. What we are is plain to God, and I hope it is also plain to your conscience.
B. Christ followers can’t help it. If their heat is properly functioning , it 
feels this responsibility!
IV. THE LEFT VENTRICLE OF A MISSIONARY’S HEART BEATS DEEP COMPASSION FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE FAR FROM GOD.
A. Acts 7:60 Then he fell on his knees and cried out, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them.” When he had said this, he fell asleep.
B. If you feel more disgust than compassion, get to the Great Physician, your heart is not functioning right.
