I Can’t Take Anymore
Can Do Attitude
Scripture Reading: Philippians 4:10-23
Key Verses: Philippians 4:13
I can do everything through him who gives me strength.
And Philippians 4:19
And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.
Today’s two Key Verses are great scriptures to memorize. If Elijah had had a Bible in his day, he would have had these two scriptures underlined! The two scriptures would have reminded Elijah not to get so discouraged and never to believe the lie: “I can’t take anymore.” If we could only have two scriptures to carry with us for the rest of our lives, these would be good ones to choose. Let’s look at them.
First, Philippians 4:13 gives us the all-inclusive promise for whatever challenges we may face. If you are a child of God by faith in His son Jesus Christ, you can face every single problem with “I can do it!” This promise is not about our comfort. No bed of roses promised here! Jesus told us that in this world we would face problems, which is a “given.” This verse is a promise that we can overcome any challenge. There are many issues which we will not enjoy walking through, but we can do it. It will never be more than we can handle!
Secondly, the apostle Paul writes that God will supply all our needs and never run low on resources. Let me caution at this time, God is the one who determines what our needs are, not us! God has all the facts, not us. He can judge perfectly! Bottom line: If I need it, I’ll get it! If I didn’t get it, I didn’t need it! No need for discouragement or depression. God has given all the strength and resources we will ever need!
Father, it’s so easy for me to think I need something. I will let you decide what I need. Teach me to lean more completely on your promises for my daily life. In Jesus’ name, amen.
