Fear of the Final
The Sting of Death – Part 2
Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 15:50-58
Key Verse: 1 Corinthians 15:55
“Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?”
Yesterday’s devotional ended with some questions about your view of death. God sent Jesus to become flesh and dwell among people. Jesus explained how to live in this world and how to prepare for the next world. Jesus described the next world and how this world would end. Finally, Jesus went to the cross to pay for the sins of all who would believe on Him! It is God’s will that no one would face death without the assurance of heaven!
If you are a believer, living as best as you can for Jesus, your eternity is secure in Jesus. However, thoughts of death bring sadness to all of us, mostly in our human thoughts of missing our loved ones. That is normal and no one should feel guilty about not wanting to die. Jesus’ death on the cross not only provided a way to heaven, it also provided abundant life here on earth. God wants us to have joy in living this life. He also wants us to enjoy His peace about our death, as well as the passing of our loved ones.
The sting of death is experiencing horrible fear when faced with our final days. If you let Him, Jesus can remove the “sting” of death and replace it with a sense of confidence, founded in your faith in a God who loves you! (Continued)
Father, I praise you for removing the sting of death from my life. In Jesus’s name, amen.
