People who live in denial have little chance of being free

A “Simon” Relationship
Confession – Part 2

Scripture Reading: Psalm 51:1-7

Key Verse: Psalm 51:4

Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight, so that you are proved right when you speak and justified when you judge.

There is an old saying: “Confession is good for the soul.”  This is not scripture, but is based on a scripture found in James: “Therefore, confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed…” *(James 5:16a).  I believe the healing James speaks of is often emotional healing!

When we allow a “Simon” relationship in our life, there will be times when it will be pointed out that we have blown it; messed up, sinned!  If you will receive that as truth, then the next step is to confess it to God.  If you get angry and defensive, you’ll live in denial.  People who live in denial have little chance of being free of the bondage of their past.

I want to encourage you to pray about and seek out a “Simon” relationship.  You are looking for someone that you feel secure in their love for you, a person who can be honest with you!  It might be your spouse; however, the spouse only works in certain relationships.  Not many can receive tough truth from their spouse without getting angry or defensive!  If you don’t think your spouse is the right fit, seek a mature Christ follower in your church.  Though it would be a new relationship, it could grow into a solid and safe relationship that will bless you.

Father, guide me in the relationships of my life.  Grant me wisdom to choose healthy relationships that can support me in my journey with you.  In Jesus’ name, amen.
