Power to Change
A Personal Revolution – Part 2

Scripture Reading: 1 Peter 3:12-16

Key Verse: 1 Peter 3:15

But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect

Continuing from yesterday’s devotional, we see that both the apostles Peter and Paul call for a personal and complete change in power controls over our lives.  Peter tells us to “set Jesus as Lord” over our hearts.  Paul tells us to die to self, that Christ may raise us to a new life!  These are instructions for a personal revolution!

Who is going to “call the shots” today in your life?  Who gets the final decision in all the choices you will face?  That answer will reveal who is in power in your life!  If you don’t really think about it and simply make the decisions, the default is your self-centered power system.  The Apostle Peter tells us we have to “set apart” Christ as Lord.  That is an intentional effort on our part.  We are not robots and we have the gift of free moral choice.  You can keep your power system in operation if you choose to!

A personal revolution is available to you and me.  We can choose to set Christ as Lord over our lives.  However, that means our power must die.  We must be buried with Christ, symbolically, in order to be raised to new life.  After reading this, you can choose to pray a prayer of surrender to God, giving Him permission to take total and complete control of your life.  (Continued)

Father, I choose you to be in control of me!  I will check in with you in my decisions for this day.  In Jesus’ name, amen.
