Just Jesus in Victory
Jesus’s Water
Scripture Reading: John 7:38-43
Key Verse: John 7:37
On the last and greatest day of the Feast, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink.”
Everybody born into this world is thirsty for Jesus’s water; many just do not know it. Many live most of their life searching for this water. Many believe they have found all they need, but they have stopped short of the “water” that truly satisfies!
God made us to live life with this “water” flowing through us. This “water” is the essential ingredient in God’s plan for us to live the abundant life.
Today’s Scripture Reading makes it very clear that Jesus was referencing God’s Holy Spirit. This Spirit would flow into everyone who accepted Jesus as the Son of God; every person who would believe in His name and confess their sins. Yes, for every person who follows His model and obeys the Holy Scriptures, they will have this “water” flowing through their life!
With the deepest longing of our souls satisfied by God’s Spirit, we live life with new perspective. It is no longer all about satisfying our fleshly needs. There is a new longing; a longing to serve our King and worship Him eternally. We are no longer comfortable with sin living in us. When we fail, our hearts hurt, and we seek forgiveness. A new boldness comes to accomplish eternal things for God’s kingdom. At night we lay our heads on the pillow with a deep peace in our souls and receive our Father’s gift of sleep (Psalm 127:2).
Father, grant me Jesus — just Jesus — in my life today. His Spirit will satisfy my every longing. I ask it in Jesus’s Name, amen.
