The devil wants us to think about our problems which produce negative feelings.

The Divine in Our Design:
Feelings in the Fruit – Part 3

Scripture Reading:  Galatians 5:19-26

Key Verse: Galatians 5:22-23

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

Using the truths in our scripture one more day, let’s concentrate on the feelings of peace and joy.  Everybody wants these feelings in their life.  We go on vacation, sit under a shade tree or on a beach and say, “this is so peaceful.  I wish we could stay here forever.”  The interesting thing is, for God’s people, He would love it if we would stay in that state of mind forever!  If we understand where our feelings come from, I think we will start to understand how this is possible.

All feelings are created in the same laboratory: Our “thinking” lab!  Our thoughts are never isolated entities; they always produce some type of response in the rest of our mind or body.  We never have a feeling without a preceding thought that was its creator!  This is the divine design stamped on our beings.  If you make a mistake in your checkbook and suddenly your account goes wildly low, you look at it and a “feeling” comes out of that thought: panic.  You find your mistake and your thoughts produce another feeling: relief!

As God’s people we have promises given to us.  The Bible even gives God the title, “The God of Peace” (Hebrews 13:20).  God is the God of peace because he promises to supply all our needs (Philippians 4:19).  The devil wants you to think about your problems because your thoughts produce feelings!  Today, determine to think about God’s promises; it will change the way you feel!

Father, transform my mind that I may live continually in your peace and joy!  In Jesus’ Name, Amen
