Our Freedom of Choice!

God loves us and makes us His own by a simple act of faith on our part; no payment needed

What is in God’s Case?
Grace

Scripture Reading: Ephesians 2:5-10

Key Verse: Ephesians 2:4 & 5

But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions–it is by grace you have been saved.

The one religious song that most people, even the irreligious, could sing at least one verse of is Amazing Grace. Grace is the unearned favor of God toward very undeserving recipients. It is amazing, no ordinary deal: God loves us and makes us His own by a simple act of faith on our part. No payment needed; no effort could earn it.

It is by grace that we have been saved. This is a clear teaching from the Apostle Paul. We struggle to receive it in its simplicity, but that is God’s “deal.” He allowed His Son, Jesus, to become flesh and walk among us for a while. He suffered and died on a cruel cross. From that point forward, anyone who would honor God by receiving Jesus would receive the grace that comes to redeem and restore.

Grace, according to the Apostle Paul, comes flowing out of God’s heart that is “rich in mercy.” Amazing grace flows out of amazing, incomparable, mercy! Don’t try to figure it out. It is beyond human comprehension. The apostle challenges us to simply receive it by faith! What a deal! Have you chosen it?

Grace is a gift of God, freely given to created beings that can say “yes” or “no.” God knew He had to be able to “ask,” not demand or force. This life was to be about “choice.” Choice makes it meaningful for God and those who say “yes” to His offer of grace! Have you made your choice? God waits with open arms, full of grace!

Father, I can’t fathom your love or understand the riches of your heart, but I receive it all by faith! Thanks for bringing me into your light and life. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
