Finding the Power
The Only Thing

Scripture Reading: Galatians 5:1-7

Key Verse: Galatians 5:6b

The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.

The most common way that we lose our passion for Christ is to get too many things going in our life.  For American Christ followers it is especially difficult to keep life focused.  We have so many options to get involved in.  These options are normally all good things, but too many good things can cause a scattered life that is a “mile wide, but an inch deep”!

The Apostle Paul reminded these Galatians that the only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.  Wow!  “The only thing that counts” seems extreme.  If the Bible is God’s Word, there can be no exaggerations.  So we must take this verse as direction from God Himself.  What really counts in your life?  It might be a good exercise to write down all the things that you give your time and money to.  In light of Paul’s statement, what things on your list really don’t count for much in the long run?

When our faith gets truly lined up with God, our faith will be expressing itself in love.  As you review the last three months, how has your faith been expressing itself?  Has it been expressing itself in showing love to everyone in your life and those you have casual contact with?  For a jumpstart, line up your battery with His battery by getting intentional in expressing your faith in love!

Father, open my eyes to truly see people and their hurts.  Grant me courage to express love in tangible ways today!  In Jesus’ name, amen.
