The Salve for Suffering
We Will Recognize Everyone
Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 13:7-13
Key Verse: 1 Corinthians 13:12
Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely.
It’s no fun to walk into a gathering of any kind and not recognize anyone. On the other hand, to walk into an event and know everyone, relaxes us, preparing us for a great experience.
God has plans for a new heaven and a new earth, as we studied in yesterday’s devotional. Once we live on this new earth, we will be known by everyone and we will know them—every single person. Think about that, no more embarrassing moments of thinking we ought to know someone’s name but can’t come up with it; that truly will be heaven for me.
Think with me about the joy of true friends gathering to enjoy time together; picture the stories and laughter. I’m sure you’ve been to an event that you wished would never end; our final reunion in heaven will finally grant us that wish of never-ending.
This fellowship won’t be marred by any bad memories or sore feelings. We will know each other as we are known here on this earth, but there will be no negative vibes; no awkward moments! If you get to this party, you’ll never be happier and you’ll never have more fun.
All the above is really a salve for the suffering that is unavoidable on this earth. Believe and find comfort!
Father, what a glorious day it will be when we finally get to experience the new earth. Even so, Lord Jesus come quickly. In Jesus’ name, amen.
