Plug In…Pull Forward
Go, Stand, Tell – Part 2
Scripture Reading: Acts 5:21-26
Key Verse: Acts 5:20
“Go, stand in the temple courts,” he said, “and tell the people the full message of this new life.”
Pulling God’s Kingdom forward means adding new people to His family via faith in Jesus Christ. It is as simple as that. That is our business and we must attend to business. The scripture that we have been looking at both yesterday and today is a business strategy in God’s Kingdom.
The first part of this strategy is summed up in the word “go.” Go is a one-word icon for the aggressive nature of our business. We believe in the extreme importance of adding more people to God’s Kingdom so we can’t simply wait for new people to come to us. We must continually seek ways of going to them. Coffee pots at work, luncheon dates, and invitations to special events at church are all part of the “go” strategy. In other words, whenever God gives us an opportunity to plug in to someone’s life, we are to make the most of these opportunities. The Apostle Paul stated it clearly in Colossians 4:5 – “Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity.”
The second part of this strategy is summed up in the word “stand.” My take on this is that we can’t run over people with the Good News. We must stand among them. In other words, get to know someone, show your love for them before you try to share your faith with them. The old saying says: “People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.” So true! We must slow down and stand among people.
Father, in my excitement to tell people about you, help me to be willing to stand among them and simply love them. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
