Life Plugged In

Serving others will outlive you is preparing a great harvest that you will enjoy throughout eternity!

Plug In…Plant Deep
Reap a Harvest

Scripture Reading: Galatians 6:7-10

Key Verse: Galatians 6:9

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

It is always amazing to me to see a large tree that towers over all the other trees yet doesn’t topple during a storm. It looks so top heavy; it seems so vulnerable to strong winds, yet it remains decade after decade. We all know the secret to its strength; it has a massive infrastructure that we can’t see. These trees have roots that go deep and give them unbelievable strength.

Over the years as a pastor, I have watched people survive horrendous storms and remain faithful to the Lord! No bitterness; no blaming. They walk with God with such dignity and strength. It is because their roots go deep. They “plugged in” years ago and serve faithfully in God’s Kingdom. They weathered the storms of growing weary and feeling attacked or unwanted. They have endured the interpersonal rubs that come when working with other people. They refused to cave into discouragement or disillusionment! Yes, their roots were well developed over the years and now they stand strong!

As you find your place in God’s Kingdom and serve the Lord with gladness, you’re planting deep. You’re developing roots! Serving others and eternal causes that will outlive you is preparing a great harvest that you will enjoy throughout eternity!

Father, when my “seed planting” gets tiresome, remind me often of the harvest that is coming. May your strength be my strength. I ask this in Jesus’ Name, amen.
