Let’s determine to grow our love more than our portfolio

Memories
Real Love – Part 2

Scripture Reading:  1 John 4:7-12 NLT

Key Verse: 1 John 4:10 NLT

This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.

Our scriptural passage reminds us that life is all about love.  Life is about loving God and loving one another.  If we can stay focused on these two priorities, the rest of life will fall in place.  When we see each day as a day to grow in our love for God and people, we won’t get so upset when other things—lesser things—don’t work out perfectly!  For example, men, we can get rid of our destination disease by realizing that as we travel we have an opportunity to enjoy the family.  Our goal changes from “gotta get there” to relax and laugh with those we say we love!  If traffic is bad or a problem comes up with the car, it is OK.  We have the two main priorities still in place: God and our family!

As we take this life journey, let’s determine to grow our love more than our portfolio.  Let’s determine to be rich in our relationships.  If that is our main goal, then it will guide us in how we live our life; how we treat our loved ones!  The Apostle John reminded us that God modeled how to love each other when He loved us by sending Jesus to this world.  Love, in God’s economy, is all about action rather than emotion.  We can’t make ourselves feel a certain way, but we can determine to act in ways that will demonstrate love.  This will create lifelong memories that bless us and our family!

Father, remind me to act in love throughout this day.  Help me create memories that are pleasant for all my loved ones!  In Jesus’ name, amen.
