We can have confidence, we have the power to change. God is moving us in the right direction. I’m a new creation in Christ.

Power to Change:
The New Creation – Part 1

Scripture Reading:  2 Corinthians 5:16-21

Key Verse: 2 Corinthians 5:17

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!

This week we are going to discuss our power to change.  Once again we will realize we only have this power because of Christ in us.  Today’s printed key verse reminds us that to be in Christ is to be a new creation.  The old has gone and the new has come!  That is change in its most radical form.

The apostle Paul announces this change with great confidence because it is God who will accomplish it.  We are God’s workmanship (Ephesians 2:10).  He will be responsible to see that all the changes will come about.  We are to simply stay in step with God’s Spirit as He does the work.  I am not a carpenter so I could not announce, with any confidence, that I will build a house.  But if I had a good friend who was a master carpenter, and he had committed to helping me—things would be different.  I would be able to say with confidence that I am going to build a great house.

We can say, with confidence, I have the power to change—even before the change has occurred.  We say that by faith in our “master carpenter,” Jesus Christ!  He will guide the projects as God is moving me in the right direction.  Yes, I have the power to change.  I’m a new creation in Christ.

Father, my hope is in you for all the change that needs to happen in me!  I know you are able and I will trust in you.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
