Can’t force anyone to accept the biblical truths, but we must inform them

Royal Servants
Kingdom of Priests – Part 2

Scripture Reading: Exodus 19:1-6

Key Verse: 1 Peter 2:5

You also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

Yesterday we looked at the first of three areas of responsibility that the Old Testament priests were to serve in: Service!  The second area of their responsibilities was in the area of teaching.  In Deuteronomy 24:8 we read, “…you must follow carefully what the priests have instructed.”  And in Nehemiah we see that “the Levites…instructed the people in the Law while the people were standing there” (Nehemiah 8:7).

The Apostle Peter reminds us that as believers we are a “holy priesthood.”  We are given the job of instructing our world on what it means to walk with God.  If you listen to today’s media and talk shows, you know that most believe in God.  Atheism is not our enemy as it used to be years ago.  Today our problem is that people want to create a god that is convenient, and ignore the God of the Bible.  It is our job to speak up and make sure they know what the Bible says.  We cannot force anyone to accept the biblical truths, but we must make sure they are not ignorant of them!

As God’s servants, we are called to teach.  The best method for teaching is to live out the lifestyle that God is worthy of.  We will need to use words once in a while!  Our world needs to witness the transforming power of God’s Word in us, His church.

Father, may I teach well today by the way that I talk and behave.  May the world learn your ways through me.  In Jesus’ name, amen.
