What God has Prepared – Part 1

Scripture Reading:  1 Corinthians 2:6-10

Key Verse:  1 Corinthians 2:9

However, as it is written: “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him”

As we delve into this study of heaven, there is a foundational truth that we must look at first.  The Apostle Paul reminds us of it in our printed key verse for today:  “No mind has conceived…”!  In other words, we are going to look at scriptures that hint at what is waiting for us when we get to heaven, but the reality of it is, we cannot ever truly understand what God has prepared for us.  Heaven is beyond description, beyond human words.  All we can do is use our best words and most creative imaginations, and even then we will fall far short of the reality of what God has prepared for those who faithfully follow Him!

            Can you imagine having someone promising you a fortune and you still dread leaving your poverty to receive this promised wealth?  Yet, we cling to this life even though God has so much more for us once we leave this life.  We get so comfortable in our little world that His fantastic world doesn’t woo us.  When our life is not so comfortable, we start thinking of heaven.  Most of us remember some of the negro spirituals that came out of their pain!

            In the coming days I hope our study of heaven will rekindle our passion for all that God has prepared for us.  Certainly God does not want us to hate this life, but He does want us to look forward to all the glories of heaven!

Father, thank you for the rewards you long to give me.  I will walk worthy of you today, with your help!  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
