Do you know what I know?

God doesn’t want us to mourn and grieve as if there were nothing more after this life!

I Know I Will See the Savior!
Don’t be Ignorant

Scripture Reading: 1 Thessalonians 4:14-18

Key Verse: 1 Thessalonians 4:13

Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope.

The biblical writers often refer to death of the physical body as “falling asleep.” It is a very accurate way to describe the reality of our lives! We fall asleep each night and awake to a new day—a common experience for all of us. Someday, we will “fall asleep” and wake up to our first day in eternity. For us who have received Jesus Christ into our lives, it will be a glorious morning! The Son will be bright and our bodies will be fresh, strong and immortal.

The Apostle Paul starts our scripture for today by telling us that he doesn’t want us to be ignorant about death of the physical body. He doesn’t want us to mourn and grieve as if there were nothing more after this life! We are to encourage one another, especially when we have a loved one “fall asleep,” that God has prepared an unbelievably better world yet to come!

When our heavenly Father gives the word, Jesus is coming back for all believers. Those who have gone before us will come back with Jesus. It will be a heavenly parade with Jesus leading the way. According to our scripture passage, this parade will not touch down, but come close enough to call up all believers who are still on the earth. After this meeting in the air, we’ll all follow Jesus back into the glories of heaven and await the final events of earth’s history.

Father, I can only imagine what it will be like. I will be encouraged by your Word and trust in your plan. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
