We must determine not to allow the culture that we live in to dictate our morals

Our Questions… God’s Answers
God and Homosexuality – Part IV

Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 & 1 Corinthians 6:18-20

Key Verse: 1 Corinthians 6:9b-10

Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality or are thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, or are abusive, or cheat people—none of these will inherit the Kingdom of God.

If you have asked Jesus to enter into your life and you are doing your best to follow His model for life, you are on your way to God’s eternal kingdom! That is good news. Now, we must determine not to allow the culture that we live in to dictate the morals that we will live with. The nation we live in has popular values that are promoted day in and day out on TV and movie screens. We must remember, just because a value is popular does not make it right or true! Who do you rely on to determine what is really “truth”? I hope now that you are a believer in Jesus Christ that it is Jesus’ teachings that you are totally sold out to.

The writers of the Bible were sold out followers of Jesus when Jesus walked on the earth. God decided to use them to write down His principles for life in the Book we call the Bible. These men wrote the words down, but God inspired their minds to write them. When WE read the Bible, we are reading the very words of God (2 Timothy 3:16).

How do we know the definition of wicked behavior? God has a definition for that: sexual immorality, adultery, prostitution, homosexual behavior, stealing, greediness and drunkenness (1 Corinthians 6:9-10). That list is not complete but gives us a good understanding of the things that God considers wicked. Notice that God’s opinion is that homosexual behavior is wicked. God doesn’t hate people who participate in any of these sins, BUT He does want people to stop believing that these behaviors are OK to live with. We may not understand why some things are wrong, but we trust God’s wisdom over our own! Let God’s Word shape your opinions about values & lifestyles!

“Father, I will trust you even when I don’t understand you. I will live out your morals & values! In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
