Series: “I Am Second”
Today: “The Path to Second”

Scripture: John 14:5-7 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”

6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”

Intro:  The question we are dealing with today is the path to       freedom     .

I.    THE PATH OF     SINCERITY     .

II.   THE PATH OF      SUBTRACTION      .

Colossians 2:16-17 & 20-23 Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. 17 These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.

20 Since you died with Christ to the basic principles of this world, why, as though you still belonged to it, do you submit to its rules: 21 “Do not handle! Do not taste! Do not touch!”? 22 These are all destined to perish with use, because they are based on human commands and teachings. 23Such regulations indeed have an appearance of wisdom, with their self-imposed worship, their false humility and their harsh treatment of the body, but they lack any value in restraining sensual indulgence.

A.  The salvation path is not the subtraction of      pleasures      from our lives.

III.  THE PATH OF      RITUALS       .

A.  Rituals are given to us to help us      visualize        and      remember      significant spiritual events.

B.  God never intended for people to put their     faith      in the rituals.

IV. THE PATH OF      HERITAGE     .

Conclusion:  Jesus said: I am the way, the truth and the life; no man comes to the Father except through me.

* When Jesus said, “I am the way,” He used the word “hedes.”

* That Greek word = a course of     conduct      , a way of      thinking       ,      feeling        or       deciding        .
