Scripture Reading:  2 Corinthians 12:9-10

Key Verse: “But he said to me, My Grace is sufficient for you…”

You could go back in my journals ten plus years and you will see the truth of this scripture painted on the pages.  For me, it is a verse that will always be an anchor.  Paul shared this word from the Lord to the people of Corinth in an effort to make it known that this life has nothing to do with us and everything to do with Christ’s work in us.  Let us remember where the strength and the power come from, always.

In verse 10 he says “that is why FOR CHRIST’S SAKE, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions and in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”  Paul knew that the circumstances, the hard days, the tough moments were gifts from God.  How hard is it to recognize that when you are in it!  Paul was beaten, put in prison and abused for the name of Christ and he chose to delight in it!  I want that attitude!

His grace is sufficient for me each and every day of my life. For His power is made perfect in my weakness.  For that reason I will boast all the more gladly about my weakness so that Christ’s power may rest on me. Yes, his grace is sufficient.

Father, I thank you for your grace over my life.  Thank you that I can rely on your strength in my weakness and that in the midst of any storm in this life I know your power rests on me.  I commit to see the tough times as a gift and an opportunity for you to be glorified in my life.   Amen.
