Got Trust?

Got Trust?

Key Verse: Proverbs 3:5-6

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understandings; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight”

I was having a conversation with my husband a couple weeks ago about something that I was anticipating in the future.  After I finished my thoughts, my husband turned to me and said, “You are such a worry wart, you are worrying about something that hasn’t even happened yet.” I responded to his comment by saying that I was not a worry wart but was trying to plan and think ahead…but as I thought about it more, I realized that his comment had some truth behind it.

Have you ever found yourself in a similar situation? Maybe it is not about the future, but something you are currently going through right now in your life. Maybe you are worrying about something that happened a couple weeks ago and can’t quite seem to get it out of your mind. The scripture I chose for today’s devotional starts out by saying “Trust in the Lord…” The opposite of trust is worry. If you are worrying about something, this means that you are NOT trusting God. Not only does God want us to trust Him, but to do so with ALL our hearts. This means whole-hearted devotion to Him. It is so easy for me to justify my actions and thoughts by saying that I am “planning” ahead. I know in my heart though that it is only an excuse for my actions.

The good news about letting go of our worries and putting our complete trust in God is He promises to take care of us! I cannot pretend and say that this comes easy for me. I have to daily surrender all my fears and worries to Him. I realize that the more I let go, the more peace and joy God gives to me. Through all the ups and downs of my life, God has always kept His promise and kept “my path straight.” I challenge you to put your complete trust in God, and watch Him rock your world!!
