True believers get up each day and are determined to glorify God in their lifestyle

Spiritual Sacrifices of the Holy
A Living Sacrifice – Part 2

Scripture Reading: Romans 12:1-8

Key Verse: Romans 12:1

And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.

What does a “living sacrifice” lifestyle look like? First, it’s a lifestyle that refuses to cater to the sinful cravings of flesh—our bodies. It’s hard not to cave to these sinful cravings, but that is part of the sacrifice. This part of the sacrifice completes the holiness that God wants and deserves. The Bible says, “Be holy for God is holy” (1 Peter 1:16). Once we make this commitment, do we ever fail? Yes, most of us do. We certainly wouldn’t ever have to fail, for greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world. God doesn’t allow any temptation to come our way if He knows it’s more than we can handle (1 Corinthians 10:13). Therefore, we must conclude, no believer has to sin. However, most Christians will admit that they have flat out caved to a temptation, not because they had to, but because they simply chose to!

True believers get up each day and are determined to glorify God in their lifestyle. If we fail, then we seek His forgiveness—renew our commitment never to do it again—and move on! God’s holy people take serious the command to live a sacrificial lifestyle. A person who has offered his body to God as a living sacrifice is still human and errs in judgment. We make mistakes; these are not sin. Sin is a willful transgression of a known law of God (James 4:17). Don’t let the devil heap guilt on you for being human. (Continued)

Father, I will do what I know to be right and good today. My goal is to glorify you in all my ways. In Jesus’ name, amen.
