As God creates this new heaven and new earth, He is also will give us a new glorified body

Growing My Anticipation
A New Heaven and Earth

Scripture Reading: Revelation 21:2-7

Key Verse: Revelation 21:1

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea.

If we are going to build an authentic anticipation within us, we must understand a little of our future. In our scripture for today we are given a glimpse of what we can look forward to! Let me start by reminding you that God never makes anything that can be improved upon; His creation is perfect! I believe the earth we now live on cannot be improved, except when sin is eliminated. So, when thinking about God making a new earth, I believe it will look much like the one we live on now. This earth will enjoy all the beauty and wonder that we get to enjoy now, only not stained with man’s destructive ways!

I love to think about walking through a beautiful green canopy of trees in perfect fellowship with God! I picture my future without temptation or trouble to deal with. When I’m having what I now call a perfect day, I imagine that I’ll experience that all the time! As God creates this new heaven and new earth, He is also will give us a new glorified body. That body won’t grow tired or get sick. I can’t be bored or grow discouraged with my circumstances. It may be hard to picture, but we will enjoy our paradise without a moment of sadness or discontent. What a day—glorious day—that will be!

As the Apostle Paul wrote in Colossians 3:2, “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” In other words, start growing your anticipation of our eternal inheritance!

Father, help me to visualize all that you are preparing for me that will last for eternity! I want the things of earth to grow dim as I anticipate a new earth. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
