Power to Overcome:
His Divine Power – Part 2
Scripture Reading: 2 Peter 1:3-9
Key Verse: 2 Peter 1:4
Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.
This is a day that we celebrate the delivery of God’s greatest promise: His Son to our world. If you can believe that Jesus came as a babe in a manger, then God has more promises for your life! The Apostle Peter reminds us in today’s printed key verse that God has granted us His precious and very great promises. When you read a promise in God’s Word, rejoice, God has granted it to you.
If a promise is going to bless me, giving me peace in a storm, I must trust that it will come true. When you read a promise, be careful not to live as if it is a lottery ticket. When people purchase a lottery ticket they know it could produce great things, but deep down they don’t really believe they could be the winner. They only have a “hope so” faith in that ticket.
When God makes you a promise, He wants you to truly trust His character that backs up that promise. He would never make a promise and fail to fulfill it! Claim a promise and live your day in a deep settled peace that it will come true. Trust deeply in God’s perfect timing and purpose for your life! The devil is a liar and will try to rob you of your promise. Resist him; keep repeating the promise in spite of the doubts the devil serves us! These promises have been granted to you.
Father, I will live life today as if the promises have already come true. You are worthy of my total trust. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
