Plug In…Pull Forward
Go, Stand, Tell – Part 3
Scripture Reading: 1 Thessalonians 2:10-16
Key Verse: Acts 5:20
“Go, stand in the temple courts,” he said, “and tell the people the full message of this new life.”
Yesterday we ended with “standing among them” as part of God’s strategy of reaching new people for His Kingdom. Developing friendships and earning the right to share our faith often takes time. Sharing the Good News with a stranger that you just ran into may work once in a while, but more often than not that approach will fall short of making a true disciple. Lasting conversions come, more commonly, out of trusted friendships. Let’s be willing to stand in this process of making disciples!
The final step is summed up with the word “tell.” We do need to verbalize the Good News to our friends. They need to hear the reasons for our hope; the motivations of our loving deeds and the source or our peace! If we are going to plug in and pull forward God’s Kingdom, the word “tell” will be a part of our strategy! It’s my belief that this telling will come naturally via a conversation with a friend. It will include much more about what Jesus means to you than a canned presentation that is memorized. It may stretch us all; it may create some nervousness as we approach the subject. The devil causes that, but as we push through these obstacles, we’ll see that as the lie our enemy tries to paint for us. Even if we don’t feel gifted in this area, all of God’s children feel a deep joy when they can participate in sharing the Good News, in our own words, with a friend in need!
Father, I want everyone to know how good you are—all the time. I’ll look for a ‘God moment’ today to plant a seed for your Kingdom. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
