God's Lifetime Warranties

God leads you so trust Him; “We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps” (Proverbs 16:9)

God’s Lifetime Warranties
God Will Get You Where He Wants You

Scripture Reading and Key Verse: Proverbs 16:9
We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.

Several years ago, I put in my “Reminders” app today’s Key Verse. I have reminded myself of this verse hundreds of times over the past few years.

If you are like me, you really want God to direct your life. You have asked God many times for His wisdom and direction for your life, as I have.

True believers know that God’s plans are so much better than anything we could plan for ourselves. Most of us feel this deep desire for God to show us the best answers and the best direction for our lives.

When today’s Key Verse first jumped off the pages of my Bible at me, I knew it was exactly what I needed then and for the rest of my life. I hope it blesses you like it has me. Let me share with you how I have applied it to my life.

First, I have applied it to apparent failures in my life. Many times, I have made decisions and gone in a direction that later seemed so wrong. However, God never wastes anything and can use our worst moments to make us better people.

Of course, God does not lead us into sinful behavior, but He can take even sinful behavior and turn it into something good. God will get us where He wants us to go even in our failures!

Second, sometimes my plans seemed right in the moment but did not work out like I wanted.

Things going wrong or unexpected can be frustrating, but today’s Key Verse reminds us that God is in the business of directing our steps!

In my last pastorate, my team and I started a coffee house style ministry for teenagers. In a short time, I realized that the teens coming were more interested in skateboarding in our church parking lot than sitting around inside.

We soon dropped the coffee house idea and started a skateboard ministry. This took off so fast and went so big we could hardly keep up with it. At one time, our computer registered over 10,000 kids that attended that skateboard ministry in the years we did it.

Once again, Proverbs 16:9 came true. We made our plans, but God directed our steps.

Can you see what peace and rest can come into our lives when we trust that God is able to get us where He wants us to go, despite our plans and our miscues?

Yes, we should prayerfully make our plans asking God for His Wisdom and guidance. But we should not worry and fret that we will miss what God wants for us. If we are staying close to the Lord by reading His Word, praying, and worshipping with other believers, then we can rest in the words of an old hymn: “God leads His dear children along”.

Many times, we do not understand or even like where our path takes us in life. During these times, trust the love and wisdom of God because He knows exactly what each of us need to go through to prepare us to live eternally with Him!

Father, lead me and I will follow. I want Your plans over mine! In Jesus’s Name, amen.
