I Know I Will See the Savior!
Keep This Command
Scripture Reading: 1 Timothy 6:11-16
Key Verse: 1 Timothy 6:14-15a
… to keep this command without spot or blame until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, which God will bring about in his own time
The New Testament believers often used the second coming of Jesus as a motivator for godly living. There is no better motivation for changed behavior than when we use facts rather than speculation! People accuse us of using fear to correct behavior. In my opinion, fear is only useful when it’s totally true! I wanted my kids to fear running out into the road. There are some facts that are great motivators for us to keep in mind for ourselves and to teach others.
First and foremost, there is a hell to avoid. The Bible is clear about the eternal destination of those who reject Jesus Christ. The second is the sudden appearance of Jesus in the rapture. In other words, our Heavenly Father, in His timing, will send Jesus—a second time—to this earth to gather up all believers still living. For all of us who are diligently following the Bible’s instructions, this is not a fearful thing. For far too many in the church, the idea of the second coming is a fearful event. Therefore, our scripture for today instructs us to flee from the love of money and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, and gentleness. I personally want to pursue these because I totally believe in the sudden appearance of Jesus in the rapture and I want to go up when He comes down! I’m also glad that I have found that my life is much more at rest and peace as I follow the biblical commands for this life!
Father, I pray for your final kingdom to come! But until then, I will pursue the things that honor you. In Jesus’ Name, I pray, amen.
