Prayer Establishes Our Refuge in God
Open Doors

Scripture Reading: Acts 5:17-26

Key Verse: Acts 5:19

But during the night an angel of the Lord opened the doors of the jail and brought them out.

Here is a phrase we all ought to memorize: “an angel of the Lord opened the doors…” The context of scripture is when Peter and the other apostles were telling everyone around them that Jesus was the answer to their deepest needs. Crowds were listening, hundreds were following; a great revival was raging! Then, of all people, the church leaders got jealous of these apostles. The high priest had the power in their culture to throw them in jail, and he did! I am sure this turn of events disturbed the apostles and all the new believers.

But during the night, the Lord sent one of His angels, who opened the jail doors and sent them on their way! As soon as it was light, they went back to the business of telling people of Jesus! That was exactly what the angel told them to do (Acts 5:21).

Do you have any “doors” you need God to open? Are you imprisoned by some habit or problem? Are there “bars” holding you captive to anxiety and stress? Is your situation feeling like there are not answers? If your answer is yes to any or all of the above, you need an angel of the Lord to come to your aid! Remember, the Lord could have sent the angel at the beginning of their troubles and prevented the jail experience altogether. It wasn’t until the middle of the night that deliverance came!

Pray the model prayer and believe for your deliverance!

“Father, I will trust you on the timing, but I need one of your angels to minister to me! Thank you for your love and care! In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
