Experiencing the Power of God
Do Not Miss Out on God’s Power – Part II
Scripture Reading: Ephesians 1:15-23 NLT
Key Verse: Ephesians 1:19a NLT
I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe Him…
Though today’s Key Verse for today is part of the Apostle Paul’s prayer for believers, we can rephrase it to be a good question of every believer: Do you understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe Him?
A second follow up question is equally important: Are you living every day fully conscious of God’s power that He makes available to you?
Let’s look at the first question. The question is not about feeling the power that God makes available. We do not feel God’s power, we must simply understand it and trust that it will be there for us when we need it. We live by faith; thus, we must daily remind ourselves to have faith in God’s power especially when we face tough problems and challenges. When fear or anxiety starts to creep into our minds, we must declare our faith in God’s power and that is able to overcome any of fear-causing circumstances.
Let me ask again, do you understand that our great God makes His power available to you? Can you grasp that His mighty power is available to you… even today? The answer to those questions determines your peace and joy levels. Jesus came to give you abundant living… but you will never experience it to its fullest until you understand the incredible power that God has made available to you!
The second question is about living every day with a consciousness that God’s power is available to you.
I must admit that for far too many years of my walk with God, I did not keep this awareness in my mind and heart. I lived too many years allowing fear and anxiety to rule over the issues that were challenging me. Even now, I must repeatedly remind myself that I have God’s mighty power available to me to handle whatever bothers me.
My daily practice is to pray the basic principles of Apostle Paul’s prayer in Ephesians 1:16-19:
- Father, grant me wisdom and insight that I might grow in my knowledge of You today.
- Father, flood my heart with light so that I understand more fully the hope I have in You.
- Father, give me understanding of the incredible power that You have made available to me because I believe in You.
If you pray this every morning, or whenever you are feeling anxious about something, then it will not be long before you are living daily with the power and peace that God wants you to enjoy.
This practice is what the Apostle Paul was talking about when he tells us to “make every effort to supplement your faith… ” (2 Peter 1:5-8).
Remember, though the devil never gives up trying to rob us of our joy and peace, that “greater is He that lives in us than he that is in the world” (John 4:4).
Father, thank You for making Your power available to me. Remind me to trust it and depend on it as I deal with this life. In Jesus’s Name I pray, amen.
