I Choose Joy

God is working all things out for your good and His glory; you have every right to rejoice – always!

Our Right to Rejoice: Our Persistence in Rejoicing
Press On!

Scripture Reading: Philippians 3:13-16

Key Verse: Philippians 3:12

Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.

The Bible tells us that the “joy of the Lord is our strength” (Nehemiah 8:10). This being true, we can understand why the devil continually attacks our joy! He wants to blind us to our right to rejoice by getting us to focus on our problems. Dwell on the bad in your life long enough and your whole life will seem bad. But the truth is: everyone has some good and some bad going on in their lives! Everyone has problems to deal with and challenges to overcome. We choose our focus. What will you choose to focus on today?

The Apostle Paul understood he didn’t get it all right when it came to life in Christ. In our printed key verse, he said that he had not obtained all that he knew was available to him. He fell short of perfection like the rest of us. But we must all do what Paul is testifying to—press on! Be persistent in walking as Christ taught us to! Persist in focusing on God’s promises for every problem. Take time to find a promise for every challenge you are struggling with—carry it around on a 3 x 5 card!

Yes, press on. You have reason to rejoice. It’s your right! Press on, God is near, and His presence will go with you today! Victory is yours; God has planned it already. He is working all these things out for your good and His glory! You have every right to rejoice. Don’t allow the evil one to steal your privileges!

Father, I am determined to rejoice today. I will not let my problems become my focus! I will meditate on your Word and trust in you. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
