The “nudge” of God in our hearts is normally accompanied by supporting circumstances.

Determine to Meet with Him
Are you a Devotee? – Part 2

Scripture Reading:  Colossians 4:3-6

Key Verse: Colossians 4:20

I, Paul, write this greeting in my own hand. Remember my chains. Grace be with you.

As we continue to answer the question of whether we are truly a devotee of prayer, let’s look at the belief behind a devotee.  Anybody that is an authentic devotee of any activity is a person who has come to believe this activity has great value.  You undoubtedly know people who you consider devotees to exercise.  They exercise on a daily basis and talk about it constantly.  They normally have read evidence from experts on the value of exercise.

If we are going to be devotees of prayer, we must truly be convinced in the value of prayer.  We started this month’s devotionals by looking at Jesus’ words in Luke 18:1:  “Then Jesus told His disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.”  Are Jesus’ words enough evidence for you that there is great value in prayer?  Is the fact, as we have studied, that Jesus prayed regularly enough to convince you of the value of prayer?

Let me remind you of the Apostle James’ words in his little book: “The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.”  James reminds us that Elijah was a man just like us.  He prayed earnestly that it would not rain and it did not rain (James 5:17).  Yes, there is awaiting all God’s children the power behind prayer.  Will you give yourself to this powerful tool that God offers?  Let’s pray!

Father, I believe you hear me when I pray.  I trust your answers that are judged perfectly and timed to your purposes.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
