The Salve for Suffering
Cursed No Longer – Part 1
Scripture Reading: Revelation 22:1-7
Key Verse: Revelation 22:3
No longer will there be a curse upon anything. For the throne of God and of the Lamb will be there, and his servants will worship him.
In our printed key verse, Jesus revealed to the Apostle John that once this age is completed, the curse will end. This curse is that which came on earth when Satan tempted Adam and Eve. They caved to his lies and sin entered our world. Sin, in its simplest definition, is a rebellion against God’s words. God had clearly spoken to Adam and Eve but they rebelled and brought a curse upon all mankind, as well as the earth on which we now live.
This curse brought shame and guilt upon mankind. We see that first show up in Adam and Eve. After they sinned, they hid from God—ashamed and guilty. This curse brought pain and suffering upon the earth and its inhabitants. God told Adam, as a result of his sin, his work would be by the sweat of his brow. This earthly existence is not an easy one and it’s all because of this curse.
The good news of God’s Word is every single person living on this cursed earth can be saved from the curse. It’s not God’s will that anyone would be lost (2 Peter 3:9). God’s good news not only saves us from sin once we believe, it prepares us for an eternity with God. Once we leave this earth, we will experience what John is writing about in our key verse for today; we will be free of the curse! (Continued)
Father, I receive your gift of salvation in Jesus. I will serve you and look forward to living free of the curse. In Jesus’ name, amen.
