Deepen Your Talk with Him
Three Levels of You – Part 2
Scripture Reading: Ezekiel 41:1-4
Key Verse: Ezekiel 41:4
And he measured the length of the inner sanctuary; it was twenty cubits, and its width was twenty cubits across the end of the outer sanctuary. He said to me, “This is the Most Holy Place.”
Yesterday we looked at the outer sanctuary of the Old Testament tabernacle. We related it to our outer appearance—our public image. Our prayer life must not stop with this level of depth with God. He wants to go much deeper with us!
The tabernacle also had an inner chamber, called the Holy Place. This area was not open to everyone. In fact, most were not allowed in this inner chamber. It was reserved for the selected priest that would serve in the tabernacle on a rotating basis. Let’s use this inner chamber to represent a level of each of us that is not open to everyone. We all have a level where we allow a selected few to get to know us. Our family certainly would normally know us at this level. Most of us would have a few friends that we allow this “inner chamber” level of intimacy.
As we relate all this to our prayer life, where is God in these levels? Is this inner chamber where you have settled in your talks with God? This means that your talks with God go as deep as your talks with family and close friends! Take a moment and evaluate your last few chats with God. Did you talk about anything that you wouldn’t want your family and friends to be in on? God wants to go deeper! (Continued)
Father, please grant me your anointing—your wisdom—to be completely open to your work in me. Help me to go deep! In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
