Today: “Empty Packages”
Scripture: Luke 3:7-9 John said to the crowds coming out to be baptized by him, “You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath? 8 Produce fruit in keeping with repentance. And do not begin to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham. 9 The ax is already at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.” 
Intro: It would be a cruel trick to give a beautifully wrapped package to a child but put nothing in it! 
I. AN EMPTY PACKAGE IS PASSIVE AGRESSIVE .
* People who present empty packages to God, say words they believe should be—expected to be—said, but they don’t actually do it . 
II. AN EMPTY PACKAGE LOOKS LIKE A PROPER PACKAGE.
A. John preached at these leaders: prove your repentance by the way you live.
B. How do you prove that you’ve truly repented? Do life different .
Conclusion: Are you sick of being empty and giving God empty packages; empty promises ?
