Lessons from Luke

God holds human beings in high esteem, and He watches over us; we are the crown of His creation!

The Kingdom’s Attitudes – Part II

Key Verse: Luke 12:7

“What is the price of five sparrows — two copper coins? Yet God does not forget a single one of them. And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows”.

I want to continue from yesterday’s devotion, because in my opinion there is no better way to have a strong and positive attitude toward God and His Kingdom than today’s Key Verse.

Jesus wants us to have this attitude that God, our heavenly Father, is so big that He takes note of the lowliest creatures in His creation (like sparrows, for example). And He knows the number of hairs on heads of every person alive!

If you are having trouble wrapping your brain around these facts, you are not alone! The Bible tells us we are “children” when it comes to understanding the God we serve. We don’t have the brain capacity to grasp how awesome and big our God is! Jesus told us these facts about God, not because He felt we could grasp them but rather that we might simply trust Him. A child often must trust their parents, even though they don’t understand AND often totally disagree with them… young children simply can’t grasp all that their adult parents are able to. So, it is with us and God, we simply must trust what Jesus has told us about God.

As we start to trust Jesus’ words, what will happen to our thinking about ourselves and our perspective of God?

In our scripture for today, start thinking that we are not lost in the mass population of this earth. God sees you and takes note of every detail of your life, down to the number of hairs on your head! Also, start to realize how important we are to God, rather than allow the devil to fill our heads with his lies about us. God loves you more than you’ll ever be able to realize, and He wants you to live with Him eternally, more than you’ll ever know!

Jesus really puts the emphasis on the most important “take away” from this passage of scripture: “So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows”, (Luke 12:7c).

Can you imagine the laughter that spread through that crowd that was listening to Him that day? This statement about us being more valuable than a whole flock of birds was meant to make us smile and know God holds us human beings in high esteem. We are the crown of His creation! (Psalm 8:5). When you start to fear what life is throwing at you, come back to these words of our Father in Heaven!

Father, you deserve my trust. With your help I am going to defeat any fears that come my way. I ask all this in Jesus’s Name, amen.
