Pursue Him
Seek and Pursue – Part 2
Scripture Reading: 1 Peter 3:8-15
Key Verse: 1 Peter 3:11
He must turn from evil and do good; he must seek peace and pursue it.
I ended yesterday’s devotional with the word that I want to use as an acrostic: P.E.A.C.E. This acrostic represents the direction in our Life Path. We studied yesterday about the first “P”—Pursue. Anyone who wants to find answers to life’s questions must take this journey which demands a persistent “searching.” The good news is: the Bible promises that if you will seek, you will find (Matthew 7:7).
To give you an overview of the Life Path I want to give the rest of the acrostic. The first “E” stands for the word “Embrace.” Those who pursue will be led to embrace Jesus Christ. This will be the first critical decision of the person who is truly seeking peace.
The “A” in our acrostic stands for the word “Advance.” Once a person has embraced Christ, he must continue in a growth pattern, advancing in truth and right living.
The “C” represents the word “Contribute.” Selfishness kills life, selflessness refreshes life. Just take a moment to remember how you feel when you do something nice for another person. It feels great! The Life Path will lead to serving others because that is the only really way to a good life. Whether at work, home, or church, we feel good about being able to contribute to the good of those around us. (Continued)
Father, guide me as I pursue truth—your truth. Help me find it and live it today. In Jesus’ name, amen.
