God's Lifetime Warranties

Your failures do not surprise God nor change His love for you; Your failures need not be final

God’s Lifetime Warranties
You Can Win Over All Temptations – Part VII

Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 10:1-13

Key Verse: 1 Corinthians 10:13 NLT
The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, He will show you a way out so that you can endure.

As you know, many warranties on the products we buy tell us that we must register the product with the company. In other words, we must act to get the benefits of the warranty.

God has given us a “lifetime warranty” on the power to overcome all temptations that the devil throws at us. This warranty is very clear; God does not allow the devil to tempt us in a way that is more than we can stand. As God’s children, we are always able to say “no” to the devil and “yes” to God.

However, we must do our part to get this “lifetime warranty”. God tells us that He will show us a way out of all temptations and that, if we resist, the devil will flee from us. So, our part is to look for the way out and resist the temptations that come our way.

Winning over temptation takes some time and maturity on our part. Each time that we fail and give into a temptation, we learn something about God and about ourselves.

We learn how patient, how longsuffering, and how persistent God is in His love for us. Our failures do not surprise Him, nor do they change His love for us. Our failures bring the conviction of the Holy Spirit to our hearts. This conviction is a clear message to us that what we did was sinful, and that we must work to overcome that temptation.

God never condemns, but the evil one loves to condemn us. We must reject any feelings of condemnation and instead accept God’s conviction.

We can learn things about ourselves after a failure. We can learn what our weaknesses are; this is critical in our fight for victory. Finding and admitting our weaknesses helps us develop ways to avoid the temptations the next time.

For example, if you know that sexual lust is a weakness of yours, then you can avoid TV shows and movies that have explicit sexual content. You can train your eyes to quickly turn away from anything or any person that causes you to lust.

You can also learn how bad you feel after failing the Lord when you give into a temptation. You can use that feeling to help you fight harder the next time you face that temptation.

Remember how you feel when you overcome temptation so that the next time you fight hard against the evil one.

Father, thank You for this “lifetime warranty” to win over temptation. Remind me and help me to do my part in the battle for victory. I pray this in Jesus’s Name, amen.
