Scripture: Matthew 15:32

Jesus called his disciples to him and said, “I have compassion for these people; they have already been with me three days and have nothing to eat. I do not want to send them away hungry, or they may collapse on the way.”

Today’s scripture clearly portrays Jesus’ heart for people. Jesus always had “compassion for these people.” Sometimes it was an individual – other times it was crowds of people. Jesus lived out and completely represented our Father in Heaven (John 14:10). In this story of Jesus feeding the four thousand people, we see His (and our Father in Heaven’s) motivation. He didn’t want to send them away hungry – lest they collapse. I believe the Bible confirms this truth for every follower of God … He doesn’t want us “hungry or collapsing”! He wants us to be satisfied and healthy for our daily journey.

Are you feeling dissatisfied with your life’s situation? Are you heavy-hearted – feeling like you could collapse? Good news – God feels great compassion for you and wants to act in your behalf! But you must remember: Our ideas are often different from God’s ideas on how to provide these needs. In today’s scriptural passage – the disciples believed the people would need to be dismissed and encouraged to go home to meet their needs. Jesus had other ideas. He desired to be the supplier of their needs. He chose to use the resources they had and make them more than adequate to meet every need!

Would you be willing to believe that God still desires to be the supplier of your every need? Secondly, would you be willing to give Him all the resources you do have? In His hands – He will make your resources stretch to meet every need and enjoy leftovers! In a short, sincere prayer – you can give God permission to manage all your financial affairs … He is waiting!

Father, I do give you permission to take over all my life’s resources! When you show me what to do… I will do it! If you make me feel uncomfortable with a “purchase” I will stop! If you tell me to give to someone or something – I will do it! In Jesus Name, amen.
